General info :
Marqués del Atrio is the shortened business name of Hacienda and Viñedos Marqués del Atrio SL, an international wine company.
The business started in 1899 being a purely family business, and nowadays it is a professional company capable of producing wine for the five continents. They combine the traditional experience of five generations with the most advanced technology.

In 1889 Olegario Rivero, member of the first generation of the family, founded a small winery in the center of the city called 'Bodega Rivero'.
During the 50s, the third generation, composed of Amador and Faustino Rivero cut out the role of intermediaries and they begin to cultivate the vine and improve the winemaking techniques. Later, as a result of their efforts, the Faustino Rivero Ulecia wines from Rioja receives the Qualified Denomination of Origin.
In the 80s, Jesús Rivero, fourth generation of the family and current director of the group, relocates the business and the original winery in the center of Arnedo towards the outskirts, and builds on the premises a bodega with capacity for over 4,000 barrels.
In the 2000s the Marqués del Atrio Winery is born in a unique environment between vineyards and mountains. The construction of this winery in Mendavia coincides with the fifth generation, formed by Jorge and Manuel Rivero.
Also with this impulse of the new family generation, the group decides to disembark in the Rías Baixas region.

In 2015, the Chinese wine group Changyu Pioneer Wine enters the shareholding of Hacienda and Viñedos Marqués del Atrio. It is one of the 10 most important wineries in the world and it owns wineries in the best wine regions around the world.
