General info :
Gianluca Marziani (born in 1970, Milan, Italy) is an Italian contemporary art critic and curator and author. He is a professional journalist since 1996.
Since May 2010 he has been the artistic director of SPOLETO COLLICOLA PALACE OF VISUAL ARTS.

He is co-inventor and curator of the TERNA PRIZE, which is has seen over five editions.
He was the artistic director of the ROCCO GUGLIELMO FOUNDATION.
On the occasion of the 2011 edition of the Venice Biennial, he was an external curator for the Umbria Pavilion and a consultant for the project on Italian Cultural Institutes in the world.
In 2010, he was appointed curator of the year by the Ca’ Zenobio Prize Committee.
He won the Magna Grecia Prize in 2005 and a Silver A.B.O in 2006.
For 4 years, he held a course on Visual Arts at the Rome IED.
He was among the guest contributors for the blog Dissonanze.
He worked as a cultural consultant for German brands BMW, Mini and Mercedes, for
multinational corporation American Express, for pharmaceutical companies Merck, Helsinn, Sigma Tau and for other high-ranking international brands.
In 2003, he curated in New York “Young Italian Genome”, the first exhibition of the decade dedicated to young Italian art in the US.
In 2009, he curated “Connectivity” at the New York Chelsea Art Museum, reasserting his keen interest in young Italian art.
In 2010, he was among the Italian curators involved in the “Expo Shanghai” project, which took place in the Casa Italia pavilions and in the rooms of the Supec Museum. He curated an exchange event hosted by the Pack Gallery in Milan and involving three international galleries: the Analix in Geneva, the Mizuma in Tokyo and the Galeria des Angels in Barcelona.
In 2008, he realised “Scala Mercalli”, the biggest Italian exhibition on street art: the project, accompanied by a book of the same title, was hosted for 5 months by the display areas of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome.
In 2010, he curated in Spoleto the first big Italian exhibition on “Pop Surrealism”, authoring the first Italian book about this international painting movement.
He was the first curator to realise events and exhibitions at the MAXXI Museum in Rome: with the Terna group, of which he is also a consultant for the prize bearing the same name, he realised press conferences (on the occasion of the 1st and the 2nd edition of the prize), an event (Masbedo) and an exhibition (on the occasion of the 2nd edition) in the rooms designed by Zaha Hadid.

He is the author of 'Scala Mercalli', the anthology on the movement of Roman Street Art (2008).

He resides in the Rome Area, Italy.
