Rafael Pavarotti (born in 1993 in Brazil) is a Brazilian photographer.
He grew up in a small village deep in the Amazon Rainforest.
His first encounters with photography were capturing people around him with his father’s camera from the age of 12. His friends would chip in and help him buy film and he’d document their evenings, hanging out at local beaches and in abandoned buildings near their homes. Since those humble beginnings, he has travelled and photographed in Brazil and beyond to New York and Sri Lanka.
Pavarotti left the Amazon at 16 to follow his dream and having moved to London, started to establish his name. In tandem with Ib Kamara, a gifted stylist from Sierra Leone, his work has featured in Vogue, i-D and in impressive campaigns for Matches, Browns, Dries Van Noten and, most recently, Dior.
He creates extraordinary images, unforgettable for their exuberance, colour and imagination. His work is also driven by a deep need to address the absence of black representation in the history of photography, presenting a broader view of black lives.
